Wittnebel’s Tavern

Grab a glass and “cheers” the past

Relive the past as you sip on Kettle Brau Lager, a 1930’s-style beer re-created especially for Wittnebel’s Tavern, while bartenders decked out in Depression-era attire serve up nostalgia. Originally opened in the early 1900s, this iconic gathering place was the heart of the Old Ashippun community, where two generations of the Wittnebel family kept the taps flowing for more than 80 years.

Now it’s back—and better than ever—at Old World Wisconsin. Meticulously restored to evoke the vibrant energy of the post-Prohibition 1930s, the tavern offers a true time-travel experience. Every detail harkens back to the spirit of a bygone era when Roosevelt was president and swing dancing was all the rage.

Kettle Braü Lager

Step back in time with Kettle Brau, a 1930s-style American Lager. This light, refreshing brew captures the essence of the beers once crafted to celebrate the post-Prohibition era. Kettle Brau is an exclusive collaboration crafted by our beer historian and brewed and canned in Wisconsin.
