Flavor of Wisconsin: Central Europe (Sold Out)

Saturday, August 14, 2010   5:30-8 pm

Explore the flavors of Wisconsin's past at our newest after-hours event. Whether you're a "foodie" or a history buff, now's your chance to try some of the same foods we prepare on site, as well as recipes from the recently reissued "The Flavor of Wisconsin: An Informal History of Food and Eating in the Badger State." Special guest for the evening will be Terese Allen, who co-authored the book with the late Harva Hachten. Copies of the book will be available for sale, and Allen will be on hand from 6 to 7:30 pm to sign copies.

Stroll the German and Polish Areas as you sample 19th-century immigrant cooking with a Central European flair at 14 food and beverage stations. Enjoy live music from The Goodtime Dutchmen, Concertina Millie and "Chirps" Smith and Ben Masterson. Learn the secrets of preparation, the history of how the foods developed, and take home recipes galore.
